off road cozy time

We're currently working on our next record. constantly going back and forth with the thought of putting it out our selves and trying to find a label to work with. The whole self release thing was great - we got to have contact with everyone that bought a record - even if only by email. the breaking even point was much easier to reach - as our costs were very low... But the reality of trying to get our music "out there" was definately daunting. So... i guess we'll just wait and see. So far the recordings sound great (anar does the recording, so i'm not really tooting my own horn) we got a new mic and have been trying out new sounds. Good times!!

As far as summer time fun time goes, turns out neither of us like the beach to much -or anything in direct sun for that matter! although farmers market seems to not count for some reason.
this week end we're throwing caution to the wind and taking a summer field trip to fun spot. we learned about funspot from this movie - super fun!

We've been listening to alot of Ticonderoga.

a plane ride with low

"looks like we made it!!" .... been singing that song since before we landed. but now it's true.

right before we left we watched 'Low in Europe'
on the plane ride home - there they were. across the isle on the plane.
funny coincidence!

i woke up this morning with a cat in my underarm and a cat smooshed in my knee. i felt like an english muffin.

we woke up really early - went to the market and had some waffles. now it's time for kitty cuddles and a nice long shower.

thanks for reading our tour blog!! we had a lot of fun - we'll keep updating as we have new songs and art and funny cat stories!

rested and ready for a tourist day

tourism rules! amsterdam is beautiful and smells real good, too.

yesterday i saw a man fishing in the canal. his dog was laying on a big scaly rock, watching the water flow underneath him, sun set late.

mona's cookin'up some breakfast/lunch (she does laundry, too). yes!

then we're gonna walk around and be tourists. then we're going to a baby gathering with caroline and oscar. we won't be creepy and taking a ton of pictures, though. sorry, baby people.

oh, and we've decided on Quiet Hello Records (i just found out that I might be wrong. i get too excited and make posts too fast) as our label name. lotsa work to come.

record label, mona as jam

so it was exciting, the drive from luxembourg to amsterdam. we talked a lot about what we wanna do when we get home. we'll play the show we have booked in boston, then take a week to just sit around and spread out on the couch like jam on bread (in my head i just imagined jam that looked like mona, and no, just cause i'm in amsterdam doesn't mean i'm stoned.)

then we talked about this first record that we put out ourselves. we managed to record it, press it, and make 600 record covers by hand (that part's all mona). i did all the publicity, and we really put a whole bunch of (fun) work into it...we managed to completely break even in just a couple months, and things have only gotten better since. we've been able to personally communicate with almost every person that's bought a record from us, and we've sent out literally hundreds of records around the world, each packaged by one of us and stuffed with candy (if you were lucky you got one with the candy-- i think the first 50 or so lacked it. i forgot :( we get to make every decision we want when we want to, and we get to deal with only the people we want to deal with (the nicest people ever!)

initially we thought we wanted to release the next one with a label, but today we decided that it just doesn't make sense considering how well we've done on our own. so we're gonna take a lot of time and record the next cd, and in the process we'll be starting our own official label! yay! mona's gonna be working on the detailed artwork for the record all year, and i'll start getting the publicity part of it together, and i think we'll be putting it out soon after! we love big projects, so we can't wait. now we just need a name... and some sunshine to keep our brains functioning.

maybe our next blog will even be a...record label blog. ok, back to amsterdam for real now.
